In Lady Sings the Blues, Williams played Holiday’s husband, Louis McKay, delivering a strong supporting performance that further strengthened his reputation as a capable dramatic actor.

Williams also became widely recognized through his appearances in commercials, most famously as the spokesperson for Colt 45 malt liquor during the 1980s. The advertisements, delivered with Williams’ unmistakable voice and confident demeanor, became part of pop culture and further reinforced his image as one of Hollywood’s smoothest personalities.

Throughout the decades, Williams continued to appear in television series, animated productions, and films. He provided voice work for the character of Lando Calrissian in animated Star Wars projects and video games, allowing new generations of fans to experience the character. In 2019 he returned once again to the role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, proving that Lando’s legendary charm had not faded with time.
